The Fumblings at Friars Bottom by Richard Coleman
At the beginning of September 2008 WDG performed a comedy, The Fumblings at Friars Bottom, set in a dilapidated school in the summer of 1954. It had all the usual suspect characters, including the property developing American gangsters, the gambler, the bookie, the school vicar and many, many more!
During the interval school dinners were served by an army of dinner “ladies” and some of the older pupils! Many of the audience joined in the spirit of the occasion by coming in school uniform and Kate Pope maintained control throughout, aided by Head Girl Zoe Rodgers.
We were particularly proud of the youngest member of our cast, James Rodgers (14), who played the aged caretaker, Mr Crumble.
